Tanzania Safari FAQs — Everything You Need to Know

Answers about our Serengeti and Tarangire camps. Best time to visit, packing, costs, and booking.

Land of Nature Africa is a collection of owner-operated safari camps in northern Tanzania. We currently operate two intimate bush camps: Land of Nature Camp in the Central Serengeti and Tarangire Nature Camp in Tarangire National Park. Each camp offers a distinct safari experience rooted in authentic hospitality, expert guiding, and a deep commitment to conservation and community development.

You can book directly through our website by submitting an enquiry form on any of our camp pages, or by emailing hello@landofnature.africa. Our reservations team will work with you to design an itinerary that matches your interests, budget, and travel dates. We also work with accredited travel agents and tour operators worldwide. A 30% deposit is required to confirm your booking, with the balance due 60 days before arrival.

Absolutely, and we strongly recommend it. A combined Serengeti-Tarangire itinerary gives you the best of both worlds: the vast plains and big migration spectacle of the Serengeti paired with the intimate elephant encounters and ancient baobab landscapes of Tarangire. A typical combination is three nights in the Serengeti and two nights in Tarangire, though we can customise the duration to suit your schedule. We handle all inter-camp transfers by light aircraft or road.

Our rates are fully inclusive of accommodation in a private safari tent, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), twice-daily game drives with an experienced guide, park entry and conservation fees, non-alcoholic beverages, and laundry service. Premium alcoholic beverages, spa treatments, special activities such as walking safaris or night drives, and transfers to and from the camp may incur additional charges. We provide a detailed breakdown at the time of booking.

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Tanzania. E-visas can be applied for online through the Tanzanian immigration portal before your trip, or visas on arrival are available for many nationalities at a cost of approximately $50 USD. A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required if you are arriving from or transiting through an endemic country. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended for all visitors to Tanzania. We suggest consulting your travel health clinic at least six weeks before departure for personalised medical advice.

Tanzania offers excellent safari experiences year-round, but the timing depends on your priorities. The dry season from June to October is widely considered the best time for game viewing, as animals concentrate around water sources and vegetation is thinner, making wildlife easier to spot. This is also peak migration season in the Serengeti. The wet season from November to May offers lush green scenery, fewer visitors, lower rates, excellent birding with migratory species present, and the dramatic calving season on the southern Serengeti plains from January to March.
