Plan Your Tanzania Safari

How to plan a northern Tanzania safari across our two intimate camps — when to go, how to get here, what to pack, and how to choose between (and combine) the Serengeti and Tarangire.

When to Go

Best Time to Visit

Northern Tanzania is a year-round safari destination. The best time depends on what you want to see — and our two camps shine in different seasons.

Jun – Oct

Dry Season (Peak)

Prime game viewing across the northern circuit. Wildlife concentrates around rivers and waterholes; this is the classic safari window.

Nov – May

Green Season

Lush landscapes, newborn animals, exceptional birding, and lower rates. The Serengeti calving season peaks from late January to March.

Year-Round

Two Parks, Two Stories

The Serengeti delivers Big Five and the Great Migration; Tarangire offers vast elephant herds and 550+ bird species. Together they make a complete safari.

Getting Here

Getting There

Both camps are reached via Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania's northern circuit.

International Arrival Most guests fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a short transfer from Arusha.
To the Serengeti ~1 hour by light aircraft from Arusha to Seronera Airstrip, then a short transfer to Land of Nature Camp.
To Tarangire ~2 hours / 120 km by road from Arusha on tarmac, or a light-aircraft transfer to Kuro Airstrip.
Multi-Park Itineraries We arrange seamless road and air transfers to combine Tarangire, the Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater.
Be Prepared

What to Pack

  • Neutral, earth-toned clothing (khaki, olive, tan, brown)
  • Warm layers for cool early mornings and evening game drives
  • A soft-sided duffel bag for light-aircraft luggage limits
  • Wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and high-factor sunscreen
  • Binoculars and a camera with a zoom lens and spare batteries
  • Insect repellent, personal medication, and a small daypack
On the Ground

What to Expect at Camp

Land of Nature Africa is a small, owner-operated collection of two intimate tented camps — one in the heart of the Central Serengeti, one among the ancient baobabs of Tarangire. Both run on solar power, employ and source locally, and are guided by expert local teams. Many guests combine the two for a complete northern-circuit safari: a few nights chasing the migration and Big Five in the Serengeti, and a few among Tarangire's elephant herds and birdlife. Tell us your travel dates and interests and we will recommend the right camps, the right order, and the right length of stay.

Practical

Good to Know

Visas Most visitors require a tourist visa for Tanzania, available online in advance or on arrival. Confirm current requirements with the Tanzanian immigration authority.
Health Northern Tanzania is a malaria area; consult your doctor about antimalarial precautions and recommended vaccinations. General guidance, not medical advice.
Money US dollars are widely accepted for safari services; carry some cash for gratuities and incidentals, as card facilities in the bush are limited.
Connectivity Coverage in the parks is limited and camps run on solar power — a welcome chance to disconnect and immerse yourself in the wild.
