A dedicated birding package with an expert ornithologist guide, 550+ species on the checklist, and Tanzanian endemics found nowhere else on Earth.
With over 550 recorded bird species — including several species endemic to Tanzania — Tarangire National Park is one of the premier birding destinations on the African continent. Our Birder's Paradise package is designed specifically for birding enthusiasts who want to maximise their time in the field with a specialist ornithologist guide who knows every call, every habitat, and every seasonal pattern in the park.
The package includes three nights' full-board accommodation at Tarangire Nature Camp, daily birding drives and walks led by our resident birding specialist, all meals and non-alcoholic beverages, and park entry fees. Your guide will target the key species that make Tarangire unique: the Yellow-collared Lovebird (endemic to central Tanzania and abundant in the baobab woodland), the Ashy Starling (another Tanzanian endemic), the spectacular Tanzanian Red-billed Hornbill, and the elusive Pel's Fishing Owl along the river margins. The package also includes early-morning and late-afternoon sessions focused on raptors, waterbirds, and the nocturnal species that emerge at dusk.
A comprehensive Tarangire bird checklist and daily field notes compiled by your guide are included, along with the loan of high-quality Swarovski binoculars for guests who need them. The wet season from November to April is the peak period for migratory species, when Palearctic waders, warblers, and raptors boost the park's species count dramatically. However, Tarangire's resident species ensure that birding is exceptional year-round. This offer cannot be combined with other promotions. Subject to availability.
